End of the year update from Mrs. Marks

May 5, 2020 | COVID-19, KCFS News

Dear Parents/Guardians of Kennedy Catholic Middle and High School Students:

I hope this letter finds you and your family well and you are staying safe as we continue to battle
COVID-19. In this letter you will find details on how KCMS/HS will be grading for the fourth
marking period as well as details for graduation.

As we have been able to continue instruction in all classes, grading and assessments will be
completed using the percentage system we already have in place. Teachers will be very
cognizant of each student’s academic success and make certain every path is being taken to
ensure every student’s academic success. There will be NO finals this year.

Kennedy Catholic Family of Schools will still host a baccalaureate and graduation ceremony,
although they will be virtual. Kennedy Catholic Family of Schools will honor their seniors during
the originally scheduled baccalaureate on Thursday, May 28 and graduation on Friday, May 29.
Both events will be held at 7pm. The ceremonies will be streamed on the KCFS YouTube page
and shared via email and social media. Students winning any scholarships and/or awards will
be invited to the school to pick up their winnings and plaques at a date following the graduation
ceremony.

Seniors will be permitted to pick up their cap and gown along with medals earned at a date to be
announced at a later time. At that time, seniors will also be participating in the tradition of
putting their hand print in the cafeteria. We are asking all seniors to send a baby picture, a
senior picture, and a picture of themselves in their cap and gown to
azreliak@kennedycatholicschools.org to be utilized during the graduation ceremony.

If Governor Wolf and Bishop Persico permit us to gather in larger groups in the coming months,
an in-person graduation will be planned. The Administrative Team is committed to honoring our
seniors while following all guidelines to keep our families safe.
We are keeping all students and families in our prayers during this difficult time. If you have any
questions or concerns, please email me at emarks@kennedycatholicschools.org.

Thank you and God Bless!

Erin Marks
