Guidelines for Prom 2016

The Prom is not far off, May 13th.  Here are some of the regulations for the event.

Prom is open to Kennedy Catholic juniors and seniors and guests who are juniors and seniors, or guests who are up to and including one year out of high school.

The following rules apply to all individuals attending Prom, including guests:

  1. No early dismissals – everyone leaves at 11:00 PM.
  1. No smoking.
  1. No student is permitted in his or her car during any part of the evening. If a student requests permission to enter a car, a chaperone or faculty member must accompany him or her.
  1. If a student is suspected of drinking alcohol or of being under the influence of drugs, or if he or she is in possession of either, his or her parents or guardian will be telephoned. The school reserves the right to administer a breathalyzer test.  If the test is positive, the student will be asked to leave the dance in the custody of a parent or guardian.  Names of any student in violation of any school rule will be recorded for submission to the Dean of students on Monday following the dance.
  2. Prom is a formal Proper dress code will be required.

Ladies:

Dresses must be formal (long or short), appropriately fitting and modest.  The World English Dictionary defines modesty as designed to prevent inadvertent exposure of parts of the body.  This includes, but is not limited to the following guidelines:

  • The Entire dress hemline must be no shorter that 2 inches from where the knee bends.  This includes slits.
  • Strapless dresses, spaghetti straps and halters are allowed, however the dress bodice (the part of the dress covering the body between the neck or shoulders and waist) MUST cover the breast from all vantage points:  from a side view as well as from the front.
  • No midriffs or cut-outs.
  • A backless dress must cover the derriere and undergarments.
  • Dresses should offer adequate support and coverage.  Fitted or spandex-style dresses must be able to MAINTAIN the modesty guidelines WITHOUT constant adjustment (e.g. pulling down at the hemline or pulling up at the bodice).

Proper undergarments (e.g. bras, panties, ect.) must be worn.

All girls’ dresses (including dresses of dates from other schools) MUST be approved by Mrs. Cicuto or Mrs. Patterson.  Please bring in a picture of you in the dress.

Gentlemen:

  • Coats and traditional ties, sports coats, dress pants, and/or suits are required.
  • Shirts must be worn at all times.
  • Ties must be worn properly.
  • Pants are to fit properly (no oversized clothing) and are to be worn around the waist.
  • Dress shoes are required.  Athletic or dress-down shoes of any style are not permitted.
  • No earrings.

Both:

  • No facial piercings.
  • No visible tattoos.

 

The dress code reaffirms the quality of education and conduct we all expect from Kennedy Catholic High School students and their guests.

Prom will be held at Buhl Farm Casino on Friday, May 13, 2016.

Those attending Prom should plan to report to KC Cafeteria for Grand March by 5:30 PM.
