Here is an exciting opportunity for your seniors considering pursuing a degree at Gannon University to participate in a virtual academic contest related to their anticipated field of study. Gannon will award four-year awards, and participants can win between $500 – $3000 annually. I am hoping that will pass this information along to your students, post it in a google classroom or share it however works best for you!!

*Contest Guidelines*
-Students must be high school seniors at the time of the contest.
-Students must enroll as full-time, undergraduates at Gannon University directly upon graduation from high school to have award money posted to their financial aid account.
-Students must meet the full-time, regular admission requirements of the University.
-Students must be applicants to Gannon University before January 15, 2021 to have any award money posted to their financial aid account.
-Students may compete in only one of the academic contests.
-Students must demonstrate outstanding performance on the contest.
-Dependents of Gannon University employees are not eligible for additional scholarships.

Additional Information

-All contests will take no more than one hour to complete.
-The amount of award money awarded will be based on individual performance.
-The awards are renewable annually, provided that recipients maintain a 3.0 grade point average at Gannon.

Academic Contests are being offered in the following areas: Business, Engineering & Computing, Humanities, Education, Social Science, Health Professions and Sciences.

 

*Business Contest*
Following a brief introduction, participants will individually compete in a computerized business simulation where they will purchase supplies, create their product, set a price… and start selling!

The contest takes approximately 60 minutes to complete and start times occur every 30 minutes beginning at 1 pm EDT; with the last contest time starting at 3 pm EDT. They can register at the link below for the time that works best for them.

November 7 at 1:00 pm EDT
November 7 at 1:30 pm EDT
November 7 at 2:00 pm EDT
November 7 at 2:30 pm EDT
November 7 at 3:00 pm EDT

*Engineering & Computing Contest*
Following a brief introduction, students will individually compete in a contest comprised of questions in the fields of Biomedical, Environmental, Industrial & Robotics and Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science, Cyber Engineering, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering and Software Engineering. Contest distribution is based on your proposed field of study.

Participants have 60 minutes from start of test to complete as many questions as possible. They can register at the link below for the time that works best for them.

*Health Professions & Sciences Contest*
Following a brief introduction, participants will individually compete in an online test that covers broad topics in biology and chemistry.

The contest takes approximately 60 minutes to complete and start times occur every 30 minutes beginning at 1 pm EDT; with the last contest time starting at 3 pm EDT. They can register at the link below for the time that works best for them.

November 21 at 1:00 pm EDT
November 21 at 1:30 pm EDT
November 21 at 2:00 pm EDT
November 21 at 2:30 pm EDT
November 21 at 3:00 pm EDT

*Humanities, Education and Social Sciences Contest*
This contest is open to high school seniors considering pursuing degrees in Advertising Communication, Criminal Justice, Digital Media Communication, Education, English, Foreign Language, History, Journalism Communication, Legal Studies, Mortuary Science, Philosophy, Political Science, Pre-Law, Psychology, Public Relations, Public Service & Global Affairs, Social Work, Theatre, Theology or are Undecided. Contest distribution is based on your proposed field of study.

Participants have 60 minutes from start of contest to complete a writing prompt. They can register at the link below for the time that works best for them.
